1. So how we can detach ourselves from our body?
2. What is the purpose of my life?
So the discussions on my last blog lead to the above two questions. Now that discussion started because we were searching for how to end the problems in our life? Problems are of two types. One is natural problem, the other one is created problems. Most of the problems what we face in our life are almost created problems. How these problems are created. It is created by our body. How the body creates problem. We will not talk about the body's inner functions which is very essential for us to live. We will talk about the body's external functions.
Whenever we perform an action by our body like eating, walking, sitting, running, driving etc, we think that we actually do it. Because we always think we are our bodies. If someone asks you, "Who are you?, we normally say, we are our body, mind and soul. But more importance is given to our body. That is the reason we care more about our external body. But the actual truth is we are not our bodies. And any action like mentioned above is not done by us. Then how are these actions performed by the body. A physical body as such is inert. It cannot perform any actions. But the body is made of or work under the influence of Prakruthi (World or the various thoughts impregnated in our sub conscious mind under various births)
So the prime reason or the starting point which directs the body to perform is Prakruthi. Now how this Prakruthi functions?. It is influenced by the three Gunas (Character), Satva, Rajasa and Tamasa. (We will explain these three types of characters in a separate blog). So now a person will have either one of these characters or a mixture of these characters. Based on the character he has, his body will perform an action using 23 concepts which is given below
1. Eyes, ears, nose, mouth and skin (Five Senses).
2, Light, Sound, Taste, Smell, Touch (External Senses)
3. Speech, Hands, Legs, Genitals, Buttocks (Active Senses)
4. Sky, Earth, Fire, Water, Wind (Five Elements)
5. Mind, Knowledge, proud.
So to summarize we should understand that Prakruthi ( the various thoughts impregnated in our sub conscious mind under various births) influenced by either the three types of characters which was inborn with a person does an action with the 23 concepts. This is how a body performs an action.
So we should understand this concept very clearly to know how our body does an action. So we should not think that we are actually doing it. Now this thought that we are doing an action with our body creates a bond between us and the body. So we start thinking that we are our body and we get ourselves attached to it and to the actions performed by it. Because we get attached to the actions done by our body, we get a reaction from the karma (action). It can be either good or bad. We will live a happy life if we get good Karma or we will lead a miserable life if we get a bad Karma.
So the attachment we have towards our body and the Karma (actions) our body executes, we either suffer or live happily in our life. So to avoid this situation and come out of this worldly pleasures and sufferings we should get detached from our body and the actions performed by it. Because we were strongly believing that we are our body and we perform the actions.
So understand the above concept very clearly and start to believe that you are not your body and you don't perform the actions. So that answers our first question.
Is detaching our self is very easy to be done than said?
Then who are we? What is the purpose of our life? We will discuss the above two questions in our next blog.
